Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over
...and often we say this for no reason at all, but in what actually is a surprise move, Dan, that dirty blog hijacker (actually you're welcome to jump in here whenever you like Dan) seems to be going about the process of joining the Royal Marines. Yes, this is step one towards Dan the green beret. Now, I know we pretty much all know this at this point, but I just thought I'd better post it here, because although we've all gone:
"So, joining the Royal Marines, eh Dan? Righto."
there hasn't actually been a lot of:
"Dan's joining the Marines. What the HELL?"
So, just to get it on record: Dan's joining the Marines. What the HELL?
Best of (British, pip pip, God Save the Queen) luck though Dan.
Speaking off jetting of to England, Hamish has (not to join the Marines though, that we know of anyway). Weird, in that here one day, other side of the world the next - got confused when he wasn't at Chateau last night after indoor cricket, then realised he was actually in Singapore. One day I'll have to try this whole departure at the airport scene from the perspective of the person leaving. Perhaps next time I'm there seeing someone off to the Galapagos Islands or wherever I can convince the security people to let me through the international gate, just for 5 minutes, whilst I wave to people and get a feel for the thing. Anyway good luck to Hamish as well, but beware, when you are rich and famous, we're all coming over to bludge off your rock star wealth, and maybe groupies.
Another cunning link...speaking of rock stars, on Tuesday I bought 'Life On Other Planets' by Supergrass(<= Actually run by the band, or part of it anyway. Check out their Douglas Adams tribute intro, and buy yourself a Supergrass ironing board cover. No really! Also they have a product called Supergrass Rock, which is Supergrass Rock candy. Ha!) and have subsequently thrashed it. (Call your house. I'm listening to it there right now. Or something.) I find it good, in a non-surprise move. Critics in general generally seem to think that Supergrass are a really talented band who can write fantastic music but are often guilty of being deliberately silly and immature, so it's easy to see why they're my favourite band. I think even the most sensible person should give it a listening-to sometime however. I will add that Supergrass are kings of the last track. The last track on each of their four albums so far is always a bit different to the rest of the album and always a little bit more downbeat, and shows they can be as serious if they put their minds to it, sort of deliberate exit music. Nice.
I'm sure I had a whole lot of stuff I was going to write about actually, but seeing as it's time to go to cricket practice and I have made sure I have joined this latest round of updates, thus avoiding the 'write a bloody blog call', it must be time to sign off.
